Scott Hanson teases what fans can expect from NFL RedZone in 2025

The 2025 NFL season is only a few months away, and it looks like Scott Hanson will be ready to go when NFL RedZone kicks off in September. On3 recently spoke to Hanson before the NFL Draft in April, and he teased what fans can expect from the show that gives you all the scorings plays from every Sunday afternoon game.
“I always say this about RedZone, I and the NFL RedZone staff are like professional golfers,” Hanson told On3. “We are on the PGA Tour, but if we want to be excellent, if we want to be Tiger Woods, we got to shave a few strokes off of our game, minor little adjustments. We’re not trying to reinvent our swing.
“People love the show, we love doing the show. We are good at doing the show, but we want to be excellent. So let’s find the little things we can tweak in our production to make it a better experience for the audience. While I can’t name specifics for you right now, we’ll find those things and get a little bit better to make sure that what people have called the greatest football show on TV stays that way.”

To be clear, Hanson is a free agent as his contract with the NFL Network expired after the 2024 football season. But Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports recently reported that contract talks with the network “have progressed in recent months,” and Hanson will likely return to NFL RedZone.

This is good news for NFL RedZone fans because Hanson has received rave reviews for his work on the show and the Peacock Olympic recap show GoldZone. The 53-year-old was nominated for a Sports Emmy for top Personality/Studio host, but he didn’t win the award as it went to Ernie Johnson.
On3 asked about Hanson’s Sports Emmy nomination before the award was handed out this week. “I was truly humbled,” Hanson said. “I looked at the other names on the list. I would say this, I was truly humbled because I am a huge fan of our industry, not just my career. I’m a huge fan of our industry. To be on a list and be considered by my peers as among the greats with Mike Tirico, Ernie Johnson, Scott Van Pelt, Kate Scott, who does great work. To be on that list is extremely humbling and I hope to represent myself and represent RedZone and represent Gold Zone.”
