All Phoenix Suns rumors point to the team parting ways with Kevin Durant this summer. At this point, a Durant trade seems like an inevitability. What is unknown is what the asking price and return will be on a trade. Will the Suns look more for young players and picks to build towards the future? Or will they try to maximize Devin Booker’s prime by going for more win-now players? We created an NBA trade machine Durant trade idea that could get them a little bit of both.
Our Pistons trade machine idea looks like this:
Pistons Receive: Kevin Durant
Phoenix Suns Receive: Tobias Harris, Ron Holland, Jalen Duren, Marc Sasser, and two first-round picks
This Durant trade proposal lets the Suns walk the line between winning now and picking up future assets. Duren and Holland could both turn into great players, but they can also contribute to winning right now.
Tobias Harris is criminally underrated as well. He played a key role for the Pistons last season and helped them get to the NBA playoffs, something that the Suns weren’t able to do.
This trade also brings in two first-round draft picks for the Suns. They can use these to restock their incredibly depleted supply, or they can send them out for more win-now players.
Above all, this trade gives the Suns some flexibility. They get a young starting center for the future, a solid veteran who is very tradeable, and a couple of young guys with upside. As they figure out what a post-Durant world looks like, they will have more flexibility to make other moves down the road.
