The national railway company (CFL) reported earlier that train services on the Luxembourg-Wasserbillig-Trier line were disrupted due to emergency services operating on the tracks near Milbech.

The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) confirmed that one person had been hit by a train at around 6.50am on Monday morning. The train conductor was also injured as a result of the collision.

Two ambulances, an emergency doctor, and three fire engines were mobilised to the scene, attending to both injured persons and bringing them to hospital.

Rail traffic on the line was disrupted for almost two hours, with replacement buses operating the Luxembourg, Cents, and Sandweiler-Contern stops instead. Trains resumed normal operations beyond Oetrange towards Wasserbillig throughout the morning, according to CFL.

At around 8.30am, CFL confirmed that traffic had ‘gradually’ resumed on the line in question. However, they indicated that delays and cancellations could still occur throughout the rest of the day – CFL advises passengers to check their website or the CFL app for the latest travel information before starting their journey.
